October 8th and 9th, 2010

The IMPACT EVALUATION NETWORK (IEN) at the Latin American and the Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA) is an initiative that aims to advance the state of knowledge and expertise regarding impact evaluation of different policies in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. The Network aims to promote impact evaluation methodologies, increase capacity building, and bridge research and policy in the region.

The fourth annual meeting was a joint effort with the Economics Department of the University of Miami, and took place on October 8th and 9th, 2010 in Coral Gables, Florida. Co-sponsors of the meeting were CEDLAS (Centro de Estudios Distributivos, Laborales y Sociales) at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina), the Regional Centers for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR), the Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) at the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Poverty and Economic Policy (PEP) Research Network.

The program included a one-day training course by Prof. Guido Imbens (Harvard University) on recent methodological developments in program evaluation. The course was divided in two mornings, followed each afternoon by the presentation of papers selected on the basis of academic merit. The meeting was attended by more than 120 participants, including researchers from the US, Canada, many Latin American countries and Europe.

The full program, including links to electronic versions of the lecture notes and papers, can be found below (a PDF version can be found  here).  Some pictures on the event can be found here.
