Jack Sim's Biography
De La Cruz Study Center, School of Business

University of Miami students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to an engaging talk and Q&A session with Jack Sim, Swiss Schwab Foundation’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year, who will discuss how social entrepreneurs can enlist support for their causes. Passion and dedication are essential, but NGOs must continually secure resources to sustain their enterprise.

Sim has also has been named a Hero of the Environment by Time magazine and elected a Fellow of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public – recognizing his work to overcome taboo and raise awareness of the role of sanitation systems in environmental waste.

Founder of the Singapore-based World Toilet Organization, which has organized 10 World Toilet Summits, Sim arrives in South Florida after helping the United Nations mark “World Toilet Day.” This international day of action aims to break the taboo around toilets and draw attention to the global sanitation challenge.

“Ethics, Policy and Society” is an occasional series sponsored by UM Ethics Programs.
