Master of Accounting (MAcc)
Program Begins August 2012
The UM Master of Accounting (MAcc) program offers the high degree of concentration in financial and managerial accounting, auditing and systems demanded of accounting professionals in public accountancy and industry today. It is among just a handful of such programs across the nation to be fully accredited by AACSB International, the leading accrediting body for business schools worldwide.
The MAcc program is ideal for those who seek employment with public accounting firms as auditors, or with industry or government as accounting and information specialists. Emphasis is placed on the development and ongoing evolution of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards, product costing trends and issues and familiarization with computer information systems as an important tool of the accounting professional. Students can complete the MAcc program in about nine months provided they enroll as full-time students.
Meet CPA Exam Requirements
Through this program, those who have taken the accounting and related courses required for an undergraduate accounting degree can earn the additional 30 semester hours of education necessary to sit for the CPA exam (see the Frequently Asked Questions section for more information about these requirements).
Accounting Summer Intensive Program – for those without an accounting degree
Begins July 2012
Those who hold an undergraduate business degree in a field other than accounting can also qualify for the MAcc program by first completing the School’s unique Accounting Summer Intensive Program, which begins in July. These students can then begin the MAcc program in August to earn the additional 30 semester hours needed for the CPA exam. Learn more here.
