Accounting for Decision- Making and Control
Targeted to users of financial data rather than preparers of the data, this course focuses on the basic concepts of accounting. It is designed to increase understanding of the function of accounting statements and financial reports.
CIS 621
Management Information Systems
This course is designed to aid managers in understanding and effectively using different types of information systems. Topics include the role of MIS in organizations, CIO issues, ERP systems, and electronic commerce.
MGT 628*
Global Entrepreneurship
This course focuses on the development of a comprehensive business plan. Students conceive and assess a personally compelling new venture idea and use it to develop a unique business model that enhances the plan’s viability in the short term, and ensures the development of sustainable advantages in the long term. Functional components covered include marketing, finance, human and intellectual capital plans. The business plan is developed throughout nine classes and several individual sessions during the program. Students then present their final business plans to a panel of new venture investors who assess the project, give individual feedback, and choose the best project(s).

Fundamentals of Finance
The objective of this course is to provide students with a conceptual framework for appreciating and understanding the problems facing financial managers. This is a core MBA course; no prior background in finance is assumed.

Foundations of Marketing Management
Through the examination of marketing problems experienced by top executives, fundamental problem-solving concepts are developed in this course. The issues addressed include consumer needs, product planning, promotion, distribution and pricing.

This course provides an analysis of the economic, political, and social forces at work in the changing economies in Latin America.

This course explores relevant concepts, research findings, and pragmatic implications of the behavioral sciences for the management of complex sociotechnical systems.

This course focuses on the application of probability theory to mathematical models for decision making in areas such as inventory control, forecasting, quality control, production, and operations management.

BUS 605
Residential Session in Europe or Asia
One two-week session of the program is held abroad at one of UM’s partner institutions. During this international experience students attend (1) lectures offered by the host institution, (2) corporate and institutional visits, and (3) an internationally-focused course. This course exposes students to other cultures and different perspectives on business issues, and widens international networking opportunities.

The formulation and implementation of strategy, from a domestic and international perspective, are explored in this course through cases, readings, and decision simulation.

Legal and Ethical Implications in Executive Decision Making
Business and public administration cases are discussed in this course, which highlights the legal, ethical, and social elements of each case, as well as the weight such elements should have in setting policy.
