Master of Science in Taxation

To apply to the Master of Science in Taxation program online, please click here.

The Master of Science in Taxation (MST) program affords the accounting major (or equivalent) the opportunity to specialize in the area of federal taxation while simultaneously receiving a highly regarded master’s degree which will satisfy the requirement for 30 additional semester hours of education necessary to sit for the CPA exam. (Refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section for more information about these requirements.)

The MST places emphasis on a thorough grounding of the principles of tax research, corporate taxation, and flow-through entities. In addition, our course offerings address issues in both tax compliance and tax planning. Moreover, through electives, students are able to expand their areas of expertise, so that they may adequately prepare themselves for careers requiring a high degree of specialized tax knowledge in public accounting, private industry, and government.

Recent exit surveys of our MST graduates indicate that they are very satisfied with the opportunities provided by the program for them to develop their technical knowledge and skills, to develop their written and oral communication skills, the relevance of coursework in preparation for professional exams, and the overall quality of the masters program. Additionally, recruiters are very satisfied with our MST graduates, citing that they were highly trained and are successful in terms of both retention and subsequent promotion.
