Undergraduate Student Chosen to Attend Accounting Workshop
This summer, junior Aubrey Swanson was chosen to participate in BDO Seidman's Pathway to Success: Mapping Out Your Future workshop in Philadelphia. Held over four days, the event brought together 60 students from around the country to explore careers in accounting and tax consulting and auditing.
BDO Seidman's CEO Jack Wesibaum and other BDO professionals such as the college relation teams, associates, partners and the national director of human resources networked and spoke with students about their own experiences in the field.
"The program greatly influenced my views on accounting and specifically BDO as a company. All the speakers gave me a sense of belief that I can go through the process of majoring in accounting and obtaining a CPA license," said Swanson, an accounting and international finance and marketing major.
The program included sessions on topics such as professionalism, networking, and time management. The students were also split into teams to complete and present team projects.
"BDO really cared about what they taught us and how they taught us and valued our feedback in the end. The program really gave me a heads up for what will hopefully become my future and gave me a lot of useful advice," Swanson said. "I was able to learn from first-hand experience and from the CEO himself. The friendliness and openness of BDO's employees along with BDO's culture and mission highly appeal to me and I hope to continue my close contact with them and hope my future involves BDO someday."
