An MBA alumnus of the School of Business has been named the No. 1 financial advisor in the state of Florida by Barron's magazine. Patrick Dwyer, MBA ‘93, a private wealth advisor in the Merrill Lynch Miami office, is among those named in the publication's list of "America's Top 1,000 Advisors: State-by-State," published in February. Dwyer is among at least three School of Business alumni on the Florida list. Also included is Arthur B. Barzilay, BBA '73, from the Merrill Lynch Coral Springs office and Andrew P. Bandklayder, BBA '79 and MBA '80, from the Hallandale Beach office.

Dwyer is a first vice president and managing partner in the Private Wealth Services Division of Merrill Lynch in Miami. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1993 as a member of its MBA Analyst Program, which is an exclusive training ground for the firm's most senior executives. He was the first in the firm to be accredited by senior management to handle the firm's wealthiest clients as a private wealth advisor.

Barzilay joined Merrill Lynch in 1980 and has built a successful practice that caters to high net worth individuals and a variety of businesses across the United States. During his lengthy tenure, he has also served as resident manager of Merrill Lynch's Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs offices.  Barzilay has long been a mainstay of the South Florida community. In his pre-Merrill Lynch days, he initiated and hosted "Arthur's Inflation Report," the area's first morning television financial program.  Through publications and seminars, he has been able to contribute his advocacy and understanding of the financial landscape to the investing public.

Bandklayder is senior vice president of investments. He has been with Merrill Lynch for 20 years and was appointed senior vice president of investments in 1997.  He attended the Wharton Executive Education Program for financial advisors in 2005 and has received the following recognitions: Top producer award, Presidents club,  Award of Excellence 1995-current.

Barron's does not receive compensation from financial advisors, participating firms and its affiliates, or the media in exchange for rankings. Financial advisors considered for Barron's "America's Top 1,000 Advisors: State-by-State" ranking have a minimum of seven years financial services experience and have been employed at their current firm for at least one year. Quantitative and qualitative measures used to determine the financial advisor rankings include: client assets, return on assets, client satisfaction/retention, compliance records, and community involvement, among others.  In total, 317 Merrill Lynch Advisors are included on this list, the most of any firm.
