 Graduate Awards Ceremony
Anuj Mehrotra is presented students with the three special
  awards presented.
Students graduating from the School’s Full-Time MBA, Executive MBA and MBA for Working Professionals programs presented awards to their favorite professors at the Fall 2009 Graduate Programs Award Ceremony held Dec. 16. Members of each class voted to select the professor who made the most impact during their graduate program. In presenting the awards, the students praised their favorite professors with such comments as:

“One of the most interesting and entertaining professors I have had the privilege of studying under. The course content provided me with very powerful tools for my executive future. I only wish I could have studied longer under this professor.”

“Very enthusiastic learning environment engaging and thoughtful professor.”

“One of the two most outstanding faculty members in the program for his knowledge, and ability to present the material and for his passion and care in ensuring that students actually get something out of the class.”

Students themselves also received awards during the ceremony. One student in each class received a Valedictorian Award, a Leadership Award and a Super Glue Award.

“You identified an individual in your class who really glued you together as a class,” said Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean for graduate business programs, explaining the Super Glue Award, “and for his or her valuable contributions to the classroom experience by having displayed both serious dedication and dynamic enthusiasm that together brought about a collective merging of thought provoking ideas and solutions.”

Dean Barbara Kahn congratuates students.

Mehrotra described those students selected by their peers for the Leadership Award as students who “demonstrated strong initiative, commitment, passion and leadership among their peers.”

Mehrotra, who was joined by Dean Barbara Kahn in presenting each award, congratulated and thanked students for the memories left behind and for their contributions.

The special ceremony was developed to celebrate the achievement that the successful completion of a graduate business program represents.

“We are being asked now to reinvent the way businesses should be handled,” said Kahn who opened the ceremony. “You need not only to learn state of the art management theories and practices that any business student is asked to master, but given these trying times, you must also learn how to handle the challenges that these uncertain times demand.”

Kahn encouraged the graduating students to assess situations with flexibility and broad perspective calling them “the next influential business masterminds in our global economy.”
