June 25, 2012
Five School of Business alumni have been honored among the South Florida region’s “best and brightest professionals under 40 years old” by the South Florida Business Journal. The newspaper’s “40 Under 40 Class of 2012” includes Jose Hernandez-Solaun (MBA ’05), senior VP, GE Capital; Paul Kaplan (MBA ’98), co-managing partner, KW Property Management & Consulting; Roberto Moreno, CFO, Zumba Fitness; Bernie Navaro (BBA ’94), president and founder, Benworth Capital Partners and member of the School’s Real Estate Programs Advisory Board; and Adam Vaisman (BBA ’04); director of acquisitions, Butters Construction & Development.
The honorees were selected from among 240 nominations. They were judged on such criteria as the nominees’ positions within their companies, responsibilities, career accomplishments and community service.
“Young professionals are among our community’s most vital assets, and it is important to recognize and acknowledge those who are making South Florida a better place to live and do business,” noted the Journal in announcing the winners.
Profiles of each of the winners were published in the June 22 edition of the Business Journal, offering insight into their personalities and achievements. In his profile, Hernandez-Solaun said his greatest business achievement was “Helping local companies navigate through the financial meltdown post-2008.” Kaplan and Navaro both said the person they’d most like to have lunch with is Warren Buffet. Moreno said the best advice he ever received is: “There is always a solution; you just haven’t thought of one.” And Vaisman said the “hot topic” in his field is “The Aggressive prices being paid for well-located, high-quality commercial real estate.”
The winners will be honored at a luncheon August 2 in Fort Lauderdale.
