Alumnus Among those Honored with Ernst & Young’s 2011 Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award
June 13, 2011
An alumnus of the School of Business Administration is among this year’s recipients of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Florida Award. Jose Mas (BBA ’92, MBA ’94), CEO of MasTec, was among 12 entrepreneurs who were named as award winners at a gala event in Orlando on Thursday, June 16. He and nearly 30 others had been selected earlier this year as finalists for the award by an independent judging panel made up of previous award winners, leading CEOs, private capital investors, and other regional business leaders.
The regional Entrepreneur Of The Year program leads up to the national awards in November. The national U.S. winner then moves on to compete for the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.
This year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year Program celebrates its 25th anniversary. Awards are given to entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
Mas and other regional honorees are invited to the Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards gala, hosted by Jay Leno, on Nov. 12, 2011, in Palm Springs, Calif. The gala is the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies, and will be held Nov. 9–13, 2011.
