To help its alumni and other finance leaders in South Florida respond to industry changes, the School of Business Administration has partnered with the CFO Alliance to establish the organization’s first chapter in South Florida. The chapter, one of nine nationwide, will facilitate discussion, debate, and exploration of the opportunities and challenges they face in driving corporate growth today.
The first in what will be a series of roundtable discussions will take place Feb. 24, 2011 and feature a presentation by D.J. Nanda, a professor of accounting at the School of Business who has been actively engaged in teaching and research in the areas of corporate governance and disclosure for many years. Entitled “The Changing Role of the CFO,” Nanda’s presentation will focus on:
- How to support and drive the corporate strategy
- The CFO as catalyst for business growth
- How to apply change leadership skills
- The new mandate for performance measures
“Our CFOs are eager to reveal how their roles are changing within their organizations, and the opportunity to have Dr. Nanda be part of our community and challenge us to think differently about the CFO role will undoubtedly bring forth new insights from our members on this historic chapter in business,” said Nick Araco, the CEO and cofounder of the CFO Alliance. “The fact is, CFOs are leading change in companies large and small, yet they seldom get credit for playing a transformative role. This discussion will expose an important development in business — the ascension of the CFO as change leader.”
The session will be held at the Coral Gables Country Club from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. The first session, limited to CFOs and other top finance leaders, is free of charge. For more information and to register, click here.
