Accounting Students Take Top Honor in Deloitte Case Competition

A team of accounting students from the School of Business has won an Honorable Mention Award in the 2016 Deloitte FanTAXtic Regional Competition, which took place November 12.
The Miami team, which included sophomores Andrea Barreiro and Patrick Corcoran; juniors Benjamin Hoffman and Rachel Mesa; and graduate student Ian Perchik, took second place to earn the honor. The case competition features a reality-based case, student team presentations the opportunity for networking with tax professionals. All teams received an issues-based case approximately three weeks prior to the competition. They then had to come up with a proposed solution and present to the panel of judges playing the role of the majority shareholders of a client.
