May 29, 2013
A Miami start-up company that has two of the School’s MBA students on its management team is one of four finalists in a contest to identify the nation’s most veteran-friendly small business. Gozump Inc., for which UM MBA student Chris Troken is operations officer and Denis Vanegas is business development manager, will now vie to become the national winner in the competition, which is organized by U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program and Spike TV’s Hire A Vet campaign.
Gozump, an online real estate brokerage that helps people buy homes, has had a focus on the military, noting on its website that “Service members are constantly moving with limited time to do anything. Gozump designed a solution to make it ridiculously easy for anyone, anywhere, to buy a home, day or night.”
Gozump was named as one of four finalists in the Hiring Our Heroes/Spike TV competition May 17. The public is now invited to vote for the winner at VetChampsTourney.com. Voting is open through May 30.
The winning business will receive a custom spot produced by and aired on Spike TV. In addition, it will receive two tickets, airfare, and hotel accommodations to attend the Spike TV Guys’ Choice Awards where the winner will be announced and recognized. The Awards are scheduled to air on June 12, 2013.
