School of Business students got a thrill this week when NBA champion Kobe Bryant stopped by to sit in on a marketing class taught by Jeffrey Weinstock.
The Los Angeles Lakers player, who was escorted into the building by Dean Anderson as students looked on, listened in on Weinstock’s lecture and then engaged his students in a five-minute question and answer session about marketing.
“Our professor told us we were having a special guest during class and I did know Kobe was coming to our basketball game that night, but I never would have thought he would sit in on a class, so I never put two and two together,” said senior Lauren Gorney. “He sat in the back row and tried to be as discrete as possible but it's hard to be discrete when you are a super star athlete.”
Students also had the opportunity to take photos with Bryant, who is the highest-earning NBA star. Word about Bryant’s visit spread quickly on social media, where students posted photos and videos.
The basketball star later attended the Miami-Duke basketball game before leaving campus.
Last week, Bryant sat in on a marketing class at Boston College, prior to the Lakers game against the Boston Celtics.
