Outstanding MBAs and Faculty Recognized as Part of Fall 2011 Commencement Activities

The best of the best among the School’s MBAs who graduated in fall 2011 along with their favorite professors have been honored as part of an annual MBA awards program. Awards were presented to outstanding faculty and the top graduates in Full-time MBA, Executive MBA and MBA for Working Professionals programs in a ceremony during graduation week.
“This is a great night – it’s special times like this when we get an opportunity to come together and celebrate our students and all their great achievements, and to wish them well in what’s to come next,” said Gene Anderson, dean of the School of Business Administration, in opening remarks.

Students from each graduating cohort presented the Outstanding Teaching Award to faculty from their respective programs. Ram Krishnan, research professor of marketing, was honored by the full-time MBA class, and Robert Plant, associate professor of computer information systems, was recognized by students in the MBA for Working Professionals program.
Vaidy Jayaraman, associate professor of management, was honored by the Executive MBA class, and Linda Neider, professor of management, was recognized by students in the Executive MBA in Health Sector Management and Policy program.
Steve Ullmann, professor of management and economics and director of programs in health sector management and policy, was recognized by the first graduating class of the Executive MBA in Puerto Rico program.
Top graduates were also recognized with awards from their peers. Those with the highest grade point averages earned the Valedictorian Award and those who demonstrated strong initiative, commitment, passion and leadership among their peers were presented with the Leadership Award.

Full-time MBA student Benjamin Elias was honored with his class’s Valedictorian and Leadership Awards. Kelly Landrum and Joel Hernandez were recognized as valedictorians for their MBA for Working Professionals cohorts, and Danielle Sofia White was presented with the Leadership Award.
George M. Lopez was recognized as valedictorian of the Executive MBA class, and Shira Kastan earned the program’s Leadership Award.
Jaime Barrio and Carlos Ivan De Jesus were named valedictorians for the Executive MBA in Puerto Rico class, and Cristina M. Kolb and Juan Carlos Agosto were both honored with Leadership Awards.
Nithya Sundararaman was honored with the Leadership Award for the Executive MBA in Health Sector Management and Policy program, while Judith L. Schaechter and Pachavit Kasemsap were named valedictorians of their cohort.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our students,” says Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean of faculty affairs and graduate business programs. “It gives me great confidence to be able to point to them as our flag bearers for the next generation of students entering our programs.”
