The School of Business honored alumni and other members of the South Florida business community at a dinner on May 3 celebrating 20 years of mentoring at the School. The mentors provide professional and academic guidance to undergraduate and MBA students throughout the year. Mentors and students in the program meet regularly for discussions on topics ranging from study habits to career choices. The program also gives students an opportunity to see the real day-to-day workings of a company.
Interim Dean Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacassa thanked the mentors in attendance for their extraordinary contribution of time and talent in mentoring students and helping them identify and achieve their professional goals.
Diego Vega (MBA ’99), vice president of Latin America & Caribbean regional sales development at MasterCard, spoke about his experiences as a mentor since 2005. MBA candidate, Kristen Menke, shared insights from the positive experience she has had this year with mentor Kathy Curtis, director of human resources at Crescent Heights Real Estate Development.
