The School of Business this fall is welcoming 13 new faculty members in the departments of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Health Sector Management and Policy, Management, Management Science and Marketing.

              
Accounting

Michael Willenborg joins the Department of Accounting as a visiting professor from the University of Connecticut where he is the Richard F. Kochanek Professor. Willenborg, who has a PhD from Pennsylvania State University, specializes in empirical, economics-based research in auditing, financial accounting, and initial public offerings.

Roman Chychyla joins the department as an assistant professor. Chychyla, whose specialties include financial accounting and accounting information systems, earned his PhD from Rutgers Business School.

          
Economics

New faculty in the Department of Economics include Salvador Ortigueira, an associate professor. Ortigueira joins the School from University Carlos III of Madrid, where he was a professor of economics since 2010. Ortigueira, who earned his PhD from the same university, specializes in macroeconomics, labor economics, macroeconomics, labor economics, optimal fiscal policy and dynamic general equilibrium models.

Esteban Petruzzello also joins the department as an assistant professor after earning his PhD from Northwestern University. His research interests include health economics, industrial organization and applied microeconomics.

           
Finance

The Department of Finance welcomes five new faculty members, including Henrik Cronqvist as a professor, Indraneel Chakraborty as an assistant professor, Tobias Muhlhofer as a research associate professor, Stuart Webb as a research assistant professor and Lorenzo Naranjo as an assistant professor of professional practice.

Cronqvist joins the School from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) where he was the Zhongkun Group Chair and a professor of finance since 2013. Cronqvist, who earned his PhD from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, specializes in behavioral and corporate finance.

Chakraborty joins the School from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University where he was an assistant professor of finance since 2011. Chakroborty’s specialties include banking, corporate finance and public finance. He earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Muhlhofer, whose specialties include commercial real estate and performance of delegated money management, joins the School from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, where he was a visiting faculty member and a research economist. Muhlhofer earned his PhD from the London School of Economics.

Webb, whose specialties include corporate finance, investments and mortgage choice, also joins the School from McCombs, where he was a professor finance since 2013. He earned his PhD from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

And Naranjo joins the School from France’s ESSEC Business School where he was an assistant professor of finance from 2009 to 2015. Naranjo, who specializes in asset pricing, derivatives, international finance, investments and market structure, earned his PhD from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

              
Health Sector Management and Policy

The Department of Health Sector Management and Policy welcomes Karoline Mortensen as associate professor. Mortensen joins the School from the School of Public Health at the University of Maryland, where she was on the faculty since 2009, most recently as an associate professor. Mortensen, who earned her PhD from the University of Michigan, specializes in health insurance, access, and health care utilization of vulnerable populations;  assessing the impacts of the Affordable Care Act; and innovative payment mechanisms in hospitals.

               
Management

The Department of Management welcomes Xin Geng as an assistant professor. Geng, whose research interests include areas in operations management, particularly in service operations, earned his PhD from the University of British Columbia.

           
Management Science

Christos Zacharias joins the School’s Department of Management Science as a research assistant professor after earning his PhD from New York University’s Stern School of Business. His research interests include stochastic modeling, applied probability, queueing theory, simulation, scheduling and optimization.

                
Marketing

Vamsi Kanuri joins the School’s Department of Marketing as an assistant professor after earning his PhD from the University of Missouri. Kanuri’s specialties include pricing, resource allocation, new service development and marketing strategy.
