June 29, 2015
Steven Ullmann, chair and professor of health sector management and policy, has received the “2015 Global Health Management Leadership Award” from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).
AUPHA, a global network of colleges, universities, faculty, individuals and organizations dedicated to the improvement of health care delivery through excellence in health care management and policy education, presented the award to Ullmann at its annual meeting in Miami in June. The conference draws an audience of more than 300 faculty members from universities across the nation. Keynote speakers this year included Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System and a member of the School’s Health Sector Management and Policy Advisory Board.
Ullmann also presented a keynote lecture, “Cuban Health Care: Utopian Dreams, Fragile Future,” during the Global Symposium held the day before in conjunction with the meeting. The symposium was sponsored by the University of Miami’s Center for International Business Education and Research, which is housed at the School of Business. The event focused on successful partnerships between U.S. universities and international programs.
